Hello, I am having a problem when attempting to install StarOffice 5.1 on my potato system and am hoping that one of you may know the solution. I have posted a support request to nntp://starnews.sun.com/staroffice.com.support.install.linux/ without a response (so far). Another Debian user, Ian van der Neut, has also posted a similar problem to the Sun newsgroup. We are both running potato with glibc 2.1.2. For me the install script hangs upon clicking the 'Complete' button after accepting the license, inputting any personal info and selecting a target dir. I have tried various permutations of the options: accept all defaults, custom installation, all, some or no personal info. No luck. I have searched the Debian mailing list archives and the Debian newsgroups without success. The output of ps aux includes the following lines, indicating multiple setup processes with some (usually one) being defunct:
root 647 2.8 1.4 2048 940 ttyp0 S 08:47 0:06 ./setup root 650 0.9 22.7 22992 14384 ttyp0 D 08:47 0:01 /tmp/sv003.tmp/setup.bin root 654 0.0 0.0 0 0 ttyp0 Z 08:47 0:00 [setup.bin <defunct>] root 656 0.0 22.7 22992 14384 ttyp0 S 08:49 0:00 /tmp/sv003.tmp/setup.bin I have to kill all the setup processes from another vc to regain the control of X. Do any of you have any suggestions? Thanks, Jason
