I do. Why? Mostly don't know. Just familiar with it. At one time it was impossible to get both to work properly on the same system. I did not want to give up emacs for XEmacs. There were several things that did not work in XEmacs, when I first installed and I did not have the patience to find out why. If I had more time, maybe! Some of the keystrokes are different, etc, etc...
The reason such questions frequently cause "holy wars" is that a text editor tends to become the extension of the user. Once you learn vi, you do not want to change.
