www connection????

Hi there. You can tell I am new, any way:
I have installed and configured my connection trough pppd, but I am
unable to connect to my isp with browsers ( I've tried lynx and arena),
which I run after pon-ing. They tell me they are unable to find url, or
to connect. I couldn't find any helpful indication in the man - help.
