here's an example of what I do on my system, using FSF Emacs 20.4.1.
(defun insert-c-left-bracket () (interactive) (insert "\["))
(define-key c-mode-map (quote [246]) 'insert-c-left-bracket)
Use the keycodes you send to the list (223, 252, 246, ...)
