In /etc/inet.d there should be a line like
ident stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/sbin/identd identd -i
You made have take out "#" characters at the beginning of the line or
change the listed location of identd. If you make a change, run
/etc/init.d/netbase reload
to have inetd reread its config file.
