The docs (and Running Linux) say that you can restore a damaged superblock by using fsck -b 8193 or multiples thereof. Whenever I have tried it, it has failed and I've had to reinstall. Last night I tried it again on my son's computer; no luck yet again.
Has anyone ever had any luck with this?
