So I do even I haven't yet tried install KDE to Debian. You mentioned dependency problems. Well, what kinds of dependencies? I just installed Debian 2.1 from distribution CD and I had to upgrade many libraries, like libstdc+++, ldso, etc. to upgrade some trivial applications.
