More info? are you tracking "stable", did you see any warnings on the upgrade, what display manager are you using (xdm, wdm, gdm), does this problem affect root as well as "normal" users. Work around: for now you can turn off you display manager. If it is xdm do: [EMAIL PROTECTED] /etc/init.d/xdm stop then you'll be able to "startx" from your commandline login. Alternatively you can "startxx -- :1" to start X even with the display manager running. -Jon
