NVidia is a video card manufacturer, Riva TNT is one of their products. DRI stands for Direct Rendering Infrastructure, it's a way for X clients to get access to 3D rendering support on the local machine. X> why don't I know anything!! EEEEKKK!!! Well, you don't need to understand *everything*, which it almost seems like you've set out to do. :-) As a general rule, if something works (e.g. XFree86 3.3 supports your hardware), you don't need to upgrade it unless there's some specific feature in the newer version you think you need. For questions like "what is foo", it can also help to look them up in a good Web search engine; I like Google. Google searches for "NVidia", "Riva TNT", and "DRI" all produced useful material as their first result.
