I've tried to install Storm Firewall on top of a stock Stormix install, and had problems as well. The path of least resistance is to install Storm Firewall clean, rather than trying to install by itself. FWIW, depending on what you're wanting to do, you might want to give Storm Firewall a miss anyway - while I think they've made some great products, they're not in good financial shape, and it's not looking very likely that you'll be able to get updates for the product from them. You might be better off learning how set up firewalls manually.
