try to run glxinfo, you should see a line like: direct rendering: Yes if it's very slow it probably does not use HW rendering. remember, you have to run X in depth 16 (not 24) for openGL HW acceleration to work (pretty stupid if you ask me but that's hw limitation of voodoo III). erik
