Hello: I have just compiled a 2.2.19 kernel for a Compaq ML370 with SMP support remotely (because it is a debian :-). I have read:
http://math-www.uni-paderborn.de/~axel/Configure.help-2.2 http://www.compaq.com/products/servers/proliantml370/description2.html http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/SMP-HOWTO-2.html It worked on the first try! The /proc/cpuinfo looks fine (two processors) but /var/log/messages has this warning: mtrr: your CPUs had inconsistent fixed MTRR settings mtrr: probably your BIOS does not setup all CPUs. Question: is this a problem or just a warning? /proc/mtrr looks like this: reg00: base=0x00000000 ( 0MB), size= 512MB: write-back, count=1 reg01: base=0x00020000 ( 0MB), size= 64kB: uncachable, count=1 reg02: base=0x00040000 ( 0MB), size= 64kB: uncachable, count=1 reg03: base=0x00060000 ( 0MB), size= 64kB: uncachable, count=1 reg04: base=0x00080000 ( 0MB), size= 64kB: uncachable, count=1 reg05: base=0x000a0000 ( 0MB), size= 64kB: uncachable, count=1 reg06: base=0x000c0000 ( 0MB), size= 64kB: uncachable, count=1 reg07: base=0x000e0000 ( 0MB), size= 64kB: uncachable, count=1 regards, -- Rahmat M.
