So what :) Just because these are broken does not stop you to upgrade if you know what are you doing and if this is not your production server. Upgrade only "apt" by "apt-get update; apt-get install apt". 3. Add "unstable" in sources.list 4. Read "man apt_preferences" 5. Set /etc/apt/preferences 6. Check bug report if you are super careful 7. "dselect update" 8. Use "dselect select" and hold all problematic packages 9. "dselect install" 10. Fix any issues which may happen.
