Debian Weekly news is a great resource. http://www.debian.org/News/weekly/ The last few weeks have had interesting news about woody's progress. I understand your concerns about the release schedule but let me assure you that you dont really need to tweak either testing or sid to be happy. Basically some days some packages just wont install. Just wait and try again the next day, once you have a version of every piece of software that you want then you have a lovely working system. Its just on the days when your favourite peice of software wont install that you might get annoyed. My advice for desktop systems is this. If you have broadband use sid, and please help file bug reports if something breaks for you. If you have unmetered dialup use testing. If you have to pay by the minute to be online use stable and save the extra money for broadband. Thats just me talking however, other people have opinions too. It helps if you have a debian developer in your local LUG too, I'm working on that, we just have a lowly kernel hacker in ours :-) Al.
