I have two identical NICs in my machine. I use `ether=0,0,eth1'
appended to the kernel line in my /boot/grub/menu.lst file (it will
also work in lilo and loadlin). I believe I successfully used this
when I was running a monolithic kernel, but I now have the drivers as a
module.
