yes! i got a message from a fellow at xfree86. it reads as follows:

Hi,

I think that I have same problem. My chipset is recognized like
CyberBlade/i1
and I use trident driver. From time to time left margin of the screen
(about
1,5 cm wide) becomes inaccessible for mouse pointer. This means that
when I
want to click button I have to point my mouse to the right of the button
(about 1,5 cm). Only solution for this was to reboot as you said. I
think
problem is in driver. I have found new driver for trident chipset on
xfree86
site: http://www.xfree86.org/~alanh/. I use it with my Xfree86 4.2.1 and
for
now I have not experienced problem again. Have a try and please write
about
your experience.

i have been using this new driver for awhile now and havent had the problem
it, the only problem is when i update my packages and it gets written over
by the xserver (or whatever) package. hope this helps.
