Yes. This is a fairly crucial bit of info I ommited (I
knew there was somthing else I should mention when I
was posting the message).

OK that will be it. I cannot test as I am at work.

The installer setup modules.conf, so I wonder if this
is a bug in the installer.

I don't think the NIC is PNP. It is a 10 Mbps NIC from
my original P120 about 10years ago (as is the CDROM,
floppy, monitor, keyboard...).
