what is the contents of your "bonding files"

manually..

   modprobe bonding
   ifconfig bond0 1.2.3.4 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 1.2.3.255 up
   ifenslave bond0 eth0
   ifenslave bond0 eth1

ifconfig -v
        - should list bond0, eth0, eth1 all responding to 1.2.3.4
and if you unplug eth0 or eth1, it will still work

        - if it's working right .. you whoudl be able to run 2x faster
        with "scp -p /somedir/100MB.db y:/someplaceelse "
