Sounds great! For one thing, you allready have trivial access to programming tools, compilers and stuff, for those who wants to get engaged in that. For people who want to get engaged in writing, there is of course Wikipedia. I think one of the more interesting things you could do are in the field of geographic information systems. You have, for example the OpenStreetMap project: http://www.openstreetmap.org/ Setting up a center to coordinate map production in your area would not only benefit your area, but would give you valuable experience the rest of the world would be interested in. There are many good mountaineers in Slovenia, and I know someone who is gathering up data for a complete global digital elevation model, and I'm sure Slovenian mountaineers could help in validating these data. As for clustering, a real cluster is probably not something you would pursue right now, but I would still recommend looking at things like Condor: http://www.cs.wisc.edu/condor/ I have just barely used it myself, many years ago, and I can't tell the state of it now, but it is under active development.
