Hello, I am using Debian-Linux testing (i386). Since two weeks my computer is connected to internet by DSL (1&1, german provider) using a Fritz!Box configured as router.
Configuration was done under Windows2000, and its works very well under Debian-Linux until yesterday. Yesterday I made a software update (apt-get upgrade, apt-get dist-upgrade) and since this time I have trouble with DHCP under Linux, while DHCP works ok with Windows2000. When booting, DHCP (dhclient) fails most times, but some minutes later dhclient seems to retry connection and I get access to internet. Trying to connect with ifup fails most times, but calling dhclient directly works perfect! Can someone tell me what is the difference of calling dhclient directly or calling it at boot or by ifup? I searched some hours using Google to solve this problem, but with no success. Below is the output of ifup and dhclient.
