I would like to get rid of the trash, computer, and home icons on my gnome desktop. I tried
gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/nautilus/desktop/trash_icon_visible false gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/nautilus/desktop/computer_icon_visible false gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/nautilus/desktop/home_icon_visible false gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop false but this didn't work.
