greetings to you all!
bought very cheap a creative audigy sound-card: chip(set) *ca0106*. as a
sarge-user i discovered debian_alsa under kernel 2.6.8-2-k7 doesnot
have this driver.
so i downloaded, compiled and installed alsa-lib, version 1.0.11rc2, and
the appropriate alsa-utils and tools.
so far so good: the sound_output is way better than the of the AC97-codec.
*but* when i try to record sound (speech) with sound-recorder i cannot
get sound out of the playback of the produced *.wav-files
(homne/steef/wav, /home/steef/wav_1) with sound-recorder. in alsamixer i
have correctly put on the IEC958_knob and the mic_input as well as
*capture*.
i know this could be a problem of a beta-driver or something like that
and i gonna put this question/problem too on the alsa-list.
*but....maybe some of you can help me out??? and tell me what i did
possibly wrong*
Steef,
What model number shows on the top of the front side of the card?
Mine shows "model SB0410".
My kernel is 2.6.15-ck1 and it *does* have ca0106.
I run Sarge and have installed:
ii alsa-base 1.0.8-7 ALSA
driver configuration files
ii alsa-utils 1.0.8-4 ALSA
utilities
ii libasound2 1.0.8-3 ALSA
library
Last time I tried the sound was terrible. But that was not with this
kernel. I have never tried getting the latest alsa-lib. I do not know to
what alsa-lib level this kernel refers. So I could try what you are
trying, provided I can get sound out of the card.
