I got the sources right for apt thanks to an earlier post and now am trying
to get the kernel upgrade according to the release notes for going from
sarge to etch.
I have a desktop system and I am trying to do the command aptitude install
linuux-image-2.6-flavor. Now I read some where that etch has the 2.6.18
kernel so that is the one I have been trying to get. I want this to be the
stable etch 4.0 release no testing or anything.
Since I couldn't get this to work I tried doing the aptitude dist-upgrade
and it seems to have gotten everything except for the kernel. I still have
the 2.4 kernel to boot into from grub. It will reboot but I don't have the
latest 2.6 kernel.
Can anyone help me?
