Or you could run
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg to generate a new file (it will backup your old one) and it might just work without you having to edit it. If X is running when you do that, reset X with the ctrl-alt-bksp to see the changes that are made. I would recommend you do it outside of x though.
