You don't have to install the whole KDE DTE just to run a KDE app. Sure, since it uses the qt widget set, you'll get a bunch of KDE libs. Just like if you don't run gnome but install a gnome app you get a bunch of gnome libs. Or if you just want xfce-terminal you get a bunch of xfce libs.
