On Thursday 03 April 2008, Noah Slater was heard to say: > Have you had any other issues at all? You mean other than top posting? :^) Let's see. The specialty buttons only started working in the last few kernel/udev versions. I still cannot make the TV- and VGA-out work, but that's not important to me. The audio volume buttons have never and will never work, I expect. The ieee1394, MemoryStick, PCMCIA, serial/parallel and DVD worked out of the box perfectly well. The non-free Nvidia driver has always worked, and drives the 3D acceleration just fine. The DVD drive has turned out to be fragile, I've replaced it half a dozen times. Sony is like that, beautiful hardware that just doesn't last very well. Once I found how to clean the cooling fins and fans, at least I didn't have to send it in for repair for normal use. I _HATE_ that! Laptops that cannot be cleaned.
