That isn't true. With enough memory, swap is unnecessary. Even without enough memory, no swap file simply means that you'll occasionally run out of memory rather than swapping out bits of what's currently in memory to disk when memory gets low. The latter is *usually* what you want, but if it's happening too much then you need to get more memory.
