I just checked cron jobs and nothing is there to do this.
don't think that it has something to do with cron .
sometimes lspci doesn't give you correct information about hardware ,
in such case update-pciids can help .
from manual page :
update-pciids fetches the current version of the pci.ids file from the
primary distribution site and installs it.
