Thanks. Hadn't noticed. I have only about 30 SkypeOut calls/month. > ... a personal computer still can't compete with the low power, low > heat output, high stability of a corded telephone. Just for sake of interest, Wikipedia lists 15 W for the OLPC XO-1. A common size of compact fluorescent bulb is 25 W. An electric kettle is ~1 kW. An XO-1 connected for 1 hour draws roughly the same energy as an electric kettle connected for 1 minute. To conserve electricity, jettison appliances with heating elements first. > Firstly, seeing as how I've already mentioned that I'm broke, do > you really think I'm going to go out and buy a fancy expensive > handheld just to have low power? Definitely not. Skype is preinstalled on the Sony PSP. A friend should give you a PSP 3001 discarded by his child after receiving a shiny new PSP-N1000. And obviously you are articulate. One or more readers of this list might offer a lead to a decent job. Regards, ...
