/usr/share/doc/packagename
also documentation as man, info, and html

To see what was delivered:-
cat /var/lib/dpkg/info/packagename.list | less

if you're a member of mlocate
$ mlocate packagename | less
cron updates the (m/s)locate db (daily from foggy memory)
# updatedb (does it when you want
# locate (same as mlocate)
