Hi,

The institution in which I work has about 15 thin clients booting from an ltsp
machine. The so called ltsp machine serves the root file system via NFS and runs the
dhcp server. All the applications run on another server.

The ltsp server is PIII 1 GHz with 128 MB, i810 MB and 3 network interfaces.
My problem is after a few minutes of startup, the clients can't boot or load from the
ltsp machine. The problem was analysed as too much network activity. If at all the
client boots, it stalls at the point " Mounting roots filesystem from
192.168.1.200/ltsp...". At this point the nfs server stalls too.

'ifconfig' shows

RX bytes:xxxx (2.5GiB) TX bytes:xxxx (118.1 MiB)

RX packets 22265706 dropped 6216152

All the NIC's are realtek 8139 chipset based.

What may be the problem.

Tt
