My syslog is a little difficult to decipher because i have two external devices. One is a WD My Passport, with an NTFS filesystem, and holds 640Gigs. It is self-powered (has no AC Adapter). I've never had a problem with it. The one i am having a problem with is the WD My Book, also using a NTFS filesystem, and has AC Power. It holds 2TB. I just wanted to say that again because my syslog may be mentioning both. Anyway, here is /var/log/syslog when i believe i initially plugged the device in - Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 2.789498] usb 1-2: New USB device found, idVendor=1058, idProduct=1130 Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 2.789503] usb 1-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 2.789507] usb 1-2: Product: My Book 1130 Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 2.789510] usb 1-2: Manufacturer: Western Digital Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 2.789513] usb 1-2: SerialNumber: 5743415A4138383736343733 Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 2.794236] usbcore: registered new interface driver uas Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 3.140019] usb 4-1: new low speed USB device number 2 using uhci_hcd Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 3.294116] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=413c, idProduct=3010 Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 3.294122] usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0 [ ...Deleted USB Mouse & Keyboard Entries... ] Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 3.744561] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 3.744565] usbhid: USB HID core driver Oct 10 18:38:16 desktop kernel: [ 6.126189] Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
