I'm about to buy a new motherboard (and CPU etc.) and will probably switch from i386 to amd64 system. Many motherboards have a chipset which requires newer kernel than 2.6.32 which is on Debian 6.0.5. On the other hand backports.debian.org has kernel 3.2.
Is it possible to install Debian 6.0.5 directly with newer kernel? I don't know what kernel is used by the Debian 6.0.5 installer and I'm not sure if my potential new motherboard will boot or work at all with the default Debian 6.0.5 installer/installed kernel.
