When I try that it shows 'vlc' as one of the packages. But in the aptitude GUI it shows the official Debian version (2.0.3-4) is installed, and the deb-multimedia version (1:2.0.5-dmo1) isn't. This is confirmed by running vlc and the 'About' page lists the version as 2.0.3.
