* Can mplayer/vlc play the track directly from the CD? In VLC, do "Media" > "Open Disc" > "Audio CD" > "Audio Track : X" > "Play" * Can play/aplay/paplay play the WAV file? * Can another ripper (perhaps on another OS) rip the track and provide a usable WAV file?
