When I search on *bay, eg for USB3 card, esata devices etc, I often add in "linux" as some suppliers specifically advertise linux support. That usually gets a few choices which, at the least, advertise linux support. Bought firewire cardbus I think some years back. More recently just expresscard usb and sata stuff. Also, by including "linux" in my search, I support those suppliers who even bother with a knowledge of linux and that it might require support.
