Here's your problem. The package is trying to write to /lib, which will be on this partition. "apt-cache show linux-image-3.12-1-amd64" tells me "Installed-Size: 135248" (this is kilobytes). In its stead, create an LVM PV and move your root partition there. Then, convert /dev/sda1 into a PV, too, and extend the Logical Volume into it. After that, you end up with a root partition of ~675M.
