Of course!

What is the output of:

grep -v '^$\|^#\|^\s*\#' /etc/apt/sources.list{,.d/*}


Is this the first time you are running "apt-get update" on this machine.

Personally, I'd run as root

# rm /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/* 

then try running "apt-get update" again, and see if that fixes it.

It won't do any harm.
