I typed     scrounge-ntfs   into google and looked at the third hit,
the ubuntu man page. The answer appears to be no; just space for the
recovered files. So that could be from zero up to the amount of
filespace you had consumed, plus overheads.

Disclaimer: I've never downloaded/installed/used/observed this
program. (I hadn't heard of it until I decided to leave my wife's
first level of backup on an NTFS partition instead of vfat.) I shall
now run it with -l as advised.
