I will give this option a try, though I can't figure out how very
different it is from what I've done; which is simply install CUPS and
configure it using the web interface. I only looked at the config file
when things would not work.
The problem isn't the interface but how you use it. Linux lets experts
do all kinds of things with raw config files and option settings but
generally works (especially Debian) when you just let it do things
automatically.
Letting the Find New Printers wizard do its job absolves you of the need
to enter queue names, messing around with restarting services, etc..
