I just built a machine with this same board this weekend and had the
same problem with a fresh install of Sid. I was able to work around
it by using a newer kernel (linux 2.4.20 from a Red Hat installation
on the same machine, then linux 2.6.0-test9 as my running Debian
kernel). I don't know whether the difference is actual changes to the
kernel or just different config options, but I'll bet a boot disk with
a different kernel will get you up and running again.
