If you have not installed any network manager (NetworklManager or WICD) you do it the old way /etc/network/interfaces If you have installed a network manager you disable the network interfaces (except lo) in /etc/network/interfaces and configure the networkmanager in use - for example /etc/NetworkManager/ regards
