trouble installing deb 9.4

I have having trouble getting thru the first screen "UEFI Installer". on 
this first menu i have full keyboard control.

Once i choose one of the Sections IE: Graphical Install, Install, 
Advanced Options

once the screen switches i loose all keyboard and mouse control, then i 
must reboot to get back to the UEFI screen.


please advise.
