that MariaDB is MySQL, so any MySQL introductory lesson will help.

The ones I find are written assuming things that are never identified or use some distro specific hack. Many presume a WEB-SERVER is involved. I understand that MySQL's definition of server is somehow different.

My Debian install is minimalist. When given the opportunity near end of install I specified only MATE desktop and 'standard' utilities.

When in actual use my laptop will have *NO* connection to outside world.
