It's also useful when all the files (or at least many of them) start with the same prefix and you'd rather not have to repeat that prefix. Oh, and also when the prefix includes characters which you don't really know how to type. And I'm sure there are several other very legitimate use case. Stefan PS: Being able to "read" is important, but being able to imagine someone else's use cases (which I guess is what we call "empathy") is quite handy too.
