I stopped using gmail with my own MUA because of duplicates that can't be easily deleted when you fetch mails. gmail considers a duplicate as already fetched and don't show it. So I had to log on the webmail to delete them. Perhaps not a problem if you use IMAP and let the mails on gmail.
