Ugh, sorry. Thanks to the 'ls -la $(tty)' command Andy Smith wrote in another message, I understood: 'mesg n' does prevent users from writing to your terminal using e.g. 'wall', *except* if said users are either root or yourself. So I redid the above test but using 'wall' from *another* non-root account: 'mesg n' did prevent the messages from coming through, and 'mesg y' allowed them again. All good. :-) Regards -- Florent
