It's on the order of 6 months or more of sitting unpowered on a shelf at the moment for the types of NAND memory used in SSDs, by the way. I don't think this aspect will improve as the focus is on getting higher densities of storage, e.g. right now you can buy 122TB NVMe drives (for about $12,500 USD each).
