For diagrams specifically, we should mention dia, it is designed to preserve the connections between objects even when moving them. I usually get frustrated with GUIs pretty fast and give up in favor of TikZ or Perl+Cairo after ~15 minutes, but this time I managed to do a full network map with it. Regards, -- Nicolas George
