No. Have you tried running the command? I mean the command “zcat TheFile.gz | MyFifo”, exactly like that without altering the paths. Did you get the same error message? If you have not tried, I suggest you do instead of guessing, because your guessing is not as reliable as mine (I guessed THEN I checked). This is valid for everybody: if you cannot see at first glance why this command should not output anything about the permissions of MyFifo, try it, it will be a good exercise.
